Goriziana (9-pin) online: rules
Goriziana (or "9 birilli") is the Italian billiards discipline with a castle of nine pins set in a cross. It plays like five-pin, on the same pocketless table with three balls, but with higher values and one novelty: the indirect shot.
The goal
The first player to reach 200 points wins (tournaments often go to 300 or 400). Each player always uses their own ball, one shot at a time.
Indirect shot
If your ball touches at least one cushion before hitting your opponent's ball, the shot is indirect and all points from pins and the red ball are worth double. Foul penalties are not doubled.
Scoring
| Event | Points |
|---|---|
| Outer pins (4) | 2 each |
| Inner pins (4) | 8 each |
| Red centre pin with other pins | 10 |
| Red centre pin alone | 30 |
| Red ball (pallino) | 6 |
Fouls
The same rules as five-pin apply: 2 points to the opponent plus any points of the shot, and a free ball. A foul of touching the red ball before your opponent's ball is worth 4.
Rules are based on the F.I.Bi.S. regulations, with some simplifications in the game.
